Rare Manufacturing Inc in Surrey B.C., Canada, has been manufacturing their unique steel roof products both commercially and residentially for over 15 years. This wasn’t designed by a multi-million dollar corporation, built in huge manufacturing facilities that stretched for blocks, or corps of engineers working around the clock. The superior quality, realistic appearance of their products and unique overall roofing system did not happen by accident. Previously being roofer/installers and roof manufacturer reps themselves for over 40 years combined, gave them the insight into manufacturing a product that would not deteriorate or fail like conventional roofing products they had been accustomed to installing. They chose an almost indestructible, strong yet versatile product steel or more precisely, “galvalume”. Iron steel is coated with an alloy of aluminum and zinc coat, giving “galvalume” a superior corrosion resistance over just galvanized steel or just aluminum. Because of their unique manufacturing techniques, the simplicity of their profiles, even their uncoated product is sold, installed both in residential and commercial applications and warranted the same as their coated products.

They added a wide range of attractive colored coatings with one of the world’s best weather resistant coatings, “Kynar 500“, to match the longevity of the galvalume that would not fade, blister, peel off, or crack. The Kynar 500 is a Fluorpolmer Coating wet system, its molecular carbon/fluorine bond (one of the strongest known to man) is the key to the coatings unsurpassed thermal, chemical and ultra violet resistance.

Along with their great profiles was a unique “S” lock fastening system built into the panel itself. This system is strong so it can be walked on, impenetrable to wind driven rain, wind uplift and yet lightweight, compared to most roofing products. While this system was rigorously tested against severe wind tunnel testing at over 250 mph before failing, the requirements to pass are only 110-120 mph.

The finished roof system is then severely and rigorously tested far beyond the scope for conventional roof products for Fire Resistance, Salt Spray, Wind Driven Rain, Wind Uplift, Traffic Load, Pressure Water Infiltration, Hail Impact and Weathering. Their products meet or exceeded all North American including Florida Severe Weather Standards and International Standards.
